Bournville Junior School
Admissions
Bournville Junior School is a Voluntary Aided school which has a catchment area, and set criteria for entry.
Transfer from the Infants to the Junior School.
Priority is given to pupils transferring from Bournville Infant school. Strong links exist between the two schools and we are very happy to build upon the sound foundations laid by the Infant School. Great care is taken to ensure that children transfer without undue anxieties or dramatic changes in methods of teaching and pastoral care.
It is the School's policy to re-group children into three new classes on entry to the Junior School and extensive consultation is held with the Infant School staff during this process. During the Summer Term, preceding entry, we encourage parents and children to become familiar with the Junior School.
This is done through:
- visits to assessblies in the Junior School;
- pen pal letters from existing Year 3 pupils to new Year 3 pupils;
- headteacher and teacher visits to theIinfant School;
Criteria for admission for each individual child
If the number of children applying for admission exceeds the number of places available, places will be allocated on the following basis.
- Children living in catchment area, who at the time of admission, have a sibling in either the Junior or the Infant School.
- Other children living in the catchment area.
- Children living outside the catchment area, who at the time of admission, have a sibling in either the Junior or Infant School.
- Other children living outside the catchment area.
Propective parents are very welcome to visit the school.
